Job Description

As a member of our team, you will work on environmental projects for municipal, federal, commercial, institutional, and private-sector clients. Jp2g’s environmental works include:

  • Waste management
  • Landfill monitoring and assessment
  • Hydrogeological studies
  • Groundwater assessments
  • Water quality studies
  • Nutrient management
  • Environmental Site Assessments
  • Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Excess Soils Management

Role and Responsibilities

The role and responsibilities for the Intermediate Environmental Technician include, but are not limited to, the following. Employees may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet Jp2g’s ongoing needs.

Technical Skills

  • Access field work sites in urban and rural areas
  • Collect soil, groundwater, or surface water samples for submission to accredited laboratories for analysis
  • Calibrate, use, and maintain various field monitoring instruments
  • Assist in developing and executing (including field support) environmental investigations associated with:
    • Borehole and test pit investigations
    • Monitoring well installations/sampling
    • Site remediation monitoring
    • Topographic Surveys
    • Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Document and record field observations
  • Assist with office duties including (but not limited to) coordinating various field work tasks, obtaining quotes and budget preparations, and assistance with technical report preparation

Teamwork

  • Work with a team of project managers, engineers, planners, and technicians
  • Fieldwork coordinator and supervision of junior staff
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, other consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure projects run smoothly and to resolve concerns promptly and efficiently
  • Communicate with team leads, technical staff, and contractors
  • Problem-solve and communicate work plan variances to team leads

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of professional experience
  • College diploma in environmental science or a related field
  • Eligible to obtain security clearances
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • ISO 9001:2015 Fundamentals Training (provided by Jp2g)

Qualifications

  • Experience in environmental sampling and following QA/QC procedures
  • Experience with data management
  • Experience performing topographic surveys is an asset
  • Experience with AutoCAD/GIS is an asset
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Ability to work in a complex and fast-paced team environment
  • Sound communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Professional, enthusiastic, and hard-working attitude
  • Vehicle access is required
