Intermediate Hydrogeologist or Environmental Engineer - Ottawa
Job Description
As a member of our team, you will be responsible for environmental and engineering project management, administration, technical input, and business development related to a variety of environmental work.
Role and Responsibilities
The role and responsibilities for the Intermediate Hydrogeologist or Environmental Engineer include, but are not limited to, the following. Employees may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet Jp2g’s ongoing needs.
Technical Capability
- Work with the Department Manager to develop technical reports, and project budgets
- Work under the direction of the Manager of Environmental Services Department
- Completing background documentation reviews, field investigations, data analysis, and preparing reports to document findings
- Completing and supervising field investigations including soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water sampling, overseeing drilling or excavation contractors, surveying, coordinator of sample analysis with laboratories
- Performing environmental monitoring or investigation
- Solid knowledge of environmental laws, regulations and guidelines as they apply to environmental and construction projects in Ontario
Project Management
- Prepare fee proposals
- Assign and supervise delegated tasks for content, quality, and completion in assigned hours
- Ensure proper coordination of documents with the other design disciplines
- Provide professional and reliable service delivery, on time and on budget
- Ensure projects adhere to Jp2g’s Quality Management System and Health and Safety program
Teamwork
- Conduct cross-disciplinary and quality control coordination
- Maintain existing business and develop new business opportunities
- Mentor junior staff, recommend appropriate training/coaching, prepare evaluation reports
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional experience
- University Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, or Hydrogeology
- Licensed by either Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) with P.Eng. or Association of ProfessionalGeoscientists of Ontario (PGO) with P.Geo
- Valid driver’s license
- Eligible to seek security clearances
Asset Qualifications
- Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar program
- Bilingual (English and French)
- Previous experience as project manager and managing technical staff
Qualifications
- Professional experience with a consulting engineering firm
- Ability to work in a complex and fast-paced team environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients
- Sound communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong sense of initiative and ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong attention to details
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Reliable vehicle access is required
