Water & Wastewater Engineering

Our growing company requires a qualified Project Manager - Water and Wastewater. The ideal candidate has experience in water and wastewater investigations, design and contract administration. This position can be filled from our Ottawa or Pembroke office.

Technical Skills

  • Work under the supervision of Department Manager
  • Manage the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, wells, pump stations, water towers
  • Prepare process engineering studies, designs and reports; and master servicing studies
  • Prepare technical specifications and cost estimating
  • Assist in site reviews, field inspections, and shop drawing reviews
  • Review drawings and designs
  • Assist in researching new systems, resources, analytical processes, procedures and working practices to identify and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity and overall profitability
  • Maintain familiarity with current techniques, codes, and standards; sustain and improve technical skills

Project Management and Quality Assurance

  • Prepare fee proposals:
    o Review technical requirements in RFPs
    o Solicit sub-consultants for the team as required
    o Prepare proposal template and content
    o Prepare Level of Effort Breakdown and determine fee
  • Act as prime point of contact for key clients; communicate to understand project requirements and deadlines
  • Communicate with sub-consultants and team members to solicit fee proposals, develop milestones,
    coordinate deliverables, track work progress, review project work, prepare invoicing, and follow-up on
    outstanding accounts
  • Interface with all relevant external parties for proper coordination of contract documents or resolution of
    project deficiencies. External parties may include architects, engineers, Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), local distribution company and telecom-related service providers
  • Assign and supervise delegated tasks for content and completion in assigned hours
  • Provide marked up sketches to CAD technologists and EITs; back-check drawings for quality control
  • Ensure proper coordination of documents with the other design disciplines
  • Coordinate water and wastewater system installation requirements with other design disciplines
  • Perform quality control reviews to ensure that design is in accordance with relevant codes and standards
  • Display initiative and resourcefulness in the performance of tasks
  • Manage project tasks within assigned time and budget constraints


  • Attend client meetings and coordination meetings with design team
  • Train and assist junior staff as required
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, other consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure projects run smoothly and to resolve concerns promptly and efficiently
  • Maintain existing business and inform Department Manager of new business opportunities if they arise

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed professional engineer in Ontario (P.Eng.)
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Valid driver's license
  • Eligible to seek government security clearances

  • Sound English language communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong sense of initiative and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Reliable vehicle access is required
